France Philip II Denier 1180-1223 AD Circulated $79.95

France: Philip II (1180-1223) Denier. A nice medieval silver coin (though coins of this era never are very beautiful…), from the Crusader era… in fact, Philip joined King Richard on the Third Crusade. He also built the first Castle of the Louvre, chartered the University of Paris, and paved Paris’ streets. Culturally, he commissioned a wine-tasting competition with over 70 vintages from across Europe, which was memorialized in a poem (“Battle of the Wines” by Henry d’Andeli). The Photo is a stock photo or representation, not a photo of the actual coin you will receive.
